the traveler is all harken.

old:

  • gain: 3:1
  • track: R32HB, 5' long
  • ends:
  • car:

proposed new:

  • track: use existing
  • gain: 4:1
    • ends: 3170 $473.00 900lb load (Big Boat Traveler Control Set Double w/Cam)
    • car: T3242B.HL $483.00
  • gain: 6:1
    • ends: 3197 $450 each
    • car: ?

other options:

  • ends: E3256 $370.00 900lb load (32 mm Big Boat 4:1 Double Sheave End Controls with Cam and Dead End (Pair))
  • HC8239 6:1 w/dodger $188.00 each

current system is 3:1. each end terminates at a winch. blocks and lines are shredded because the path from traveler to winch is not tangential to shivs.

the 4:1 system has a cam cleat at each end of traveler sheet and would not require winches. all line handling would be done outside the dodger. loading might occasionally be high enough to warrant winch use, so might need to ensure path to winches.

a 6:1 would probably not require winches.
