Task: Install bilge switches

  • The fused wires directy attached to the house batteries will be removed.
  • A 30-amp breaker will be installed above the galley breaker panel that will be "always on". The breaker will be wired to the connection on the house battery switch that is always connected to the house battery.
  • A 10 AWG cable will be run from the bilge breaker to a barrier terminal strip under the nav table.
  • This terminal strip will be used to distribute power to the bilge pumps (see drawing).
  • Two bilge pump switches will be installed near the nav table.
  • The incandescent light built into the switches will illuminate when voltage is applied to a pump.
  • An additional LED will be added to indicate that the switch is in the AUTO position.
  • Two wires will be run back to the cockpit instrument panel to indicate if an when a pump is running.
