Bilge Pump Discussion

Kenn has suggested replacing the Rule pump in the aft bilge with a low-profile pump (http://www.westmarin...&classNum=10624) This might help keep the aft bilge water level lower than the current Rule pump.

The current configuration(Jabsco with float switch in main bilge and automatic Rule pump in aft bilge)should provide adequate protection for the balance of this season while we devise the best long-term solution.

The root problem is the leaky rudder post that we must fix this winter when the boat is out of the water. The contributing factor is a lack of adequate drainage from the aft bilge to the main bilge. It would be helpful if we could devise a passive (vs. a pump) solution to this problem, perhaps by opening up another drain path from the aft bilge to the main bilge. Then, if we had a separate pump, we could place it in the main bilge as a true backup to the primary pump.
