In the event of a hurricane or other big storm approaching, the following should be done:
- If two mooring pennants are not available, add a dockline as a second mooring line, tied with a bowline to the mooring ball and secured the other cleat on the bow
- Remove foresail, leaving a bare pole. Secure halyard elsewhere, using storage line to keep furler head from skying
- Depending on severity, either tie lines around mainsail or remove it from the boom and secure it below decks
- Ensure all hatches are dogged
- Remove all canvas covers
- Replace ventilators with flat caps
- Ensure all seacocks are closed -- definitely sink -- questions about others?
