* Spinnaker pole is shorter than storage fixtures on deck, because of repair to onboard end of pole which shortened it, so that there's possibility that it can get loose and cause havoc [Sep 2011].

** Workaround is to watch bindings that (a) keep aft end from getting loose, and (b) check that there are bindings to keep pole from shifting sternward, which will allow forward end of pole to get out of its mount.
