This is the checklist of things to do before getting underway.
* Retrieve key from starboard lazarette * Remove companionway boards. Stow in starboard lazarette. * Check recent log entries. * Make log entry. Include at least the following: o date and time o name of each person on board * Remove guppy. Stow guppy in bucket in starboard lazarette. * Set battery switch to "House" (battery switch is on panel above galley sink) o Verify that the fuel lift pump "F Pump" switch is "on" (in panel above galley sink) o Verify that all other switches are "off" (in panel above galley sink) o Verify that all switches are "off" (in panel to port above nav table) * Check bilge water level and pump out if necessary. * Check engine oil and coolant levels and top off if necessary. o See detailed procedures in systems description * Remove binnacle metal cover and stow. * Mount ensign on stern rail * Hoist MITNA burgee * Give basic safety lecture for new sailors: o life jackets o fire extinguishers o man overboard procedures o VHF radio operation o use of head (note that head is currently inoperative and placarded) o avoiding the boom * Start engine (see procedure elsewhere on Wiki) * Configure electrical panels to desired operation, typically o Navigation Instruments "on" (in panel above galley sink) o FM Radio "on" (in panel above nav table, also energizes VHF radio) o Navman "on" (in panel above nav table, energizes Garmin Chart Plotter)
