This is the checklist of thing to do before getting underway.
- Unlock cabin, starboard lazarette, and stern lazarette. Stow locks in top drawer of nav station.
- Remove companionway boards. Stow in cabin.
- Make log entry. Include at least the following:
- date and time
- name of each person on board
- engine hours
- Remove guppy. Stow guppy in bucket in stern lazarette.
- Remove binnacle compass cover. Stow cover in top drawer of nav station.
- Set lower battery switch to "1" (pointer to 9 o'clock position)
- Turn on the following breakers on the nav station:
- Main
- Navigation Instruments
- Open yellow seacock under sink in head.
- Check engine oil and coolant levels.
- Check battery fluid levels.
- Check holding tank level.
- Check recent log entries.
- Give basic safety lecture for new sailors.
