==== Float Plan ==== 
Our plan is to leave at 8:45am, and sail to the Spectacle Island.  We'll
spend about an hour on the island and have lunch, and sail back, aiming to
be back on the dock by 5pm.  We will call from Spectacle to confirm we are
okay.

The forecast is light winds from the northeast, with a chance of rain in
the afternoon, but no thunder is forecast.  We may motor for part of the
way if the wind is too light.  There is a possibility of fog.  If we get
hit with fog, we will sound our fog signal, one long and two short blasts
every two minutes, and proceed with caution.

Low tide at 8:54, high tide at 3:12, 10' spread.

==== Notes ==== 

* Spectacle Island did not respond to radio calls.  We motored into the dock and tied up, and no one came to take our money.  We talked to a ranger, and he said that they had switched the company that manages the dock, and the new company hadn't started yet since it was early in the season.

* We determined that we can hear the pavilion's radio from Spectacle Island, but they cannot hear ours, even at 5 watts.

* We left early and sailed back the other way around Spectacle Island, up the Sculpin Ledge Channel. 

* On the way back, we hit heavy fog, with 50' of visibility. We used Kenn's GPS as a compass and did dead reckoning to go from the #4 to #6 to #8 to #10 buoys in Boston Main Channel.  

* No issues with the boats.  However, engine #1 didn't idle. 

* The pavilion gave us a single radio, and transmitting did not work on that radio.

* Big negative with the booklet charts:  there isn't a compass rose on every page.  In fog you really need a full size chart.
