Mashnee Ladies Race Practice

Description

Ladies! I'm excited to kick off this series. This sail is designed as a practice for future races. Women sailors of all levels of experience with current sailing cards, feel free to sign up.  Crew selection will be based on the needs of the boat and not in the order of sign up (8 crew will be selected).

The goals of the practice:

- get everyone familiar with the different roles on the boat in racing

- practice maneuvers

- run through spinnaker rigging and theory (we will fly it at a later practice)

- get to know each other and have fun sailing around Boston

Logistics:

We will meet at the table at Waterboat Marina at 5:30 pm and plan to be back by 10:00 pm (just wave to be let in) (directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/XsVdzAYbvY2wqgk7A).

Things to bring:

• Water
• Appropriate layers and sun protection for the weather (it's usually colder on the water but sun is stronger)
• Shoes for the boat (clean shoes that you didn't wear on the streets or thoroughly cleaned)
• Food (snacks are always encouraged)
• Sailing gloves (can also be gardening gloves)
• please take off jewelery beforehand

Optional:

• Headlamp (ideally with red light)
• crew sheet if you're working towards a crew rating (we will have a new version this season, watch out for the update)
