Intermediate Tech Racing
| Mon 01-Jun-2026 | 17:30-20:00 |
Description
This is a friendly developmental racing series to get aspiring Tech racers more comfortable on the racecourse and improve your racing skills and knowledge. On-the-water coaching will be provided. Post-racing debriefs on the dock after the final race. Coaching and debrief focus will be on rules, starts, boathandling, strategy, tactics, and boatspeed. There is no question "too stupid" to ask!
Scores will be kept and posted. May 18, 25, and June 1 will be scored as a series. Your worst score will be dropped after we complete 5 races. Your second-worst score will be dropped after we complete 10 races.
One or two participants per evening are encouraged to volunteer for Race Committee duty, which Dan will lead you through. This is a GREAT way to improve your awareness of racing and the wind. (Seriously. You have no idea how enlightening it is to be the one running races!)
Advanced Tech racing fleet leaders are welcome to participate primarily as teachers rather than cutthroat competitors. You are welcome to sail, and race. Advanced Tech racers in the 50th percentile or better in the Spring Series will not be scored. Those racers are expected to do things like circling back to advise aspiring racers on the topics above. Generosity and grace at the start, mark roundings, and crossings; and leading post-racing debriefs on the dock and answering questions are expected. Top half Advanced racers should cross outside an end of the finish line, not cross the line itself.
Any yelling at or protest of an aspiring Intermediate Racer will be grounds for a ban, at the sole discretion of Dan.
